Japres story

Japres has been established to provide colourful and enjoyable resources to students of Japanese.

I taught my daughter Japanese in order to sit the entrance exam for the Japanese Academy for her preferred high school (she aced the exam and received one of only two out of catchment places).  There wasn’t a great deal of resources for kids readily available, so I created my own flashcards and resources. Issy learned two years of primary school Japanese within two months because we had so much fun and found enjoyment in the learning process (she would ask to practise Japanese at bedtime every night – we had many laughs and so much fun together). I still remember and treasure those memories today.

I hear all too often of students deciding to quit Japanese due to their lack of enjoyment of the subject and that makes me quite sad as I truly love this language (and Japan), so my mission is to create enjoyable resources to bring an element of fun to their learning with the hope that they continue to enjoy studying Japanese well into the future.

Torii Gate

about me

I fell in love with Japan and Japanese when I commenced studying Japanese at age 13. I studied Japanese all through high school and then went on to study Japanese and Business at University.

I have been lucky enough to visit Japan numerous times and find any excuse (even though I don’t need one hehe) to visit Japan.  Kyoto is my favourite city and because I love Torii gates, Fushimi Inari Taisha is my favourite shrine to visit.
